Bikes on SEPTA 

Why drive when you can ride? To support Bike Philly, SEPTA is adding a car just for bikes on the following inbound Regional Rail trains:

• Train #3409 departing West Trenton at 5:58am
• Train #703 departing Chestnut Hill East at 6:11am
• Train #522 departing Malvern (Paoli Line) at 6:30am

Volunteers will be on board to help you load your bike. We suggest you purchase your weekend round-trip ticket or Independence Pass (for all day access to all of SEPTA) ahead of time, but you can also purchase them onboard.

Don't forget, bicycles are also allowed on the Market Frankford Line, the Broad Street Line, the Norristown High Speed Line and SEPTA buses are equipped with bike racks to hold two bicycles. NJ TRANSIT buses and PATCO High Speed Line trains also carry bikes. Click here for transit directions** to Bike Philly.

* Please note. Due to varying return times for cyclists, return trains will not have the extra bike car and may be subject to the usual two bike per car restrictions. Please respect the instructions of the conductor of your train.

Driving Directions

If you choose to drive, we recommend parking at two large paid parking lots that are very close to the bike path along the Schuylkill River. Signs on the trail will direct you (car-free) to the start.

Please be careful if you find a parking space on the street. Two hour parking limits are enforced at most spaces even on a Sunday!

The Arch Street Lot is located at Arch and 23rd Streets (50 N 23rd Street). The second location is the 30th & JFK Lot located on 3051 John F Kennedy Blvd. The cost of parking is $7 - $10 per day.

Directions to the Arch Street Lot (50 N 23rd Street)

• From the west: Take I-76 E to Exit 344 (Vine St. Expy/I-676 E/US-30 E), then take the 23rd St. exit toward Ben Franklin Parkway, turn right onto N. 23rd Street. Proceed into lot from 23rd & Arch Street intersection. (1 block above Market St or 2 blocks below Ben Franklin Pkwy).

• From the east: Take I-76 W to Exit 344 (Vine St. Expy/I-676 E/US-30 E), then take the 23rd St. exit toward Ben Franklin Parkway, turn right onto N. 23rd Street. Proceed into lot from 23rd & Arch Street intersection (1 block above Market St or 2 blocks below Ben Franklin Pkwy).

• From the north: Take I-476 S to Exit 16 to I-76, merge onto I-76 E and take Exit 344 (Vine St. Expy/I-676 E/US-30 E), then take the 23rd St. exit toward Ben Franklin Parkway, turn right onto N. 23rd Street. Proceed into lot from 23rd & Arch Street intersection (1 block above Market St or 2 blocks below Ben Franklin Pkwy).

• From the south: Take I-95 N to Exit 13 onto PA-291/Penrose Ave, Turn left onto S 26th St./PA-291 E, which becomes I-76 W take Exit 344 (Vine St. Expy/I-676 E/US-30 E), then take the 23rd St. exit toward Ben Franklin Parkway, turn right onto N. 23rd Street. Proceed into lot from 23rd & Arch Street intersection (1 block above Market St or 2 blocks below Ben Franklin Pkwy).

Directions to 30th and JFK lot (3051 John F Kennedy Blvd.)

• From the west: Take I-76 E to Exit 345 toward 30th St/Market St. Turn right at Arch Street and bear right onto JFK Blvd, lot will be on right. 

• From the east: Take I-76 W to Exit 345 toward 30th St/Market St. Turn right at Arch Street and bear right onto JFK Blvd, lot will be on right.  

• From the north: Take I-476 S to Exit 16, merge onto I-76 E towards Philadelphia. Take I-76 E to Exit 345 toward 30th St/Market St. Turn right at Arch Street and bear right onto JFK Blvd, lot will be on right. 

• From the south: Take I-95 N to Exit 13, PA-291 towards I-76 W. Turn left on S. 26th St and take ramp onto -76 W.  Take I-76 W to Exit 345 toward 30th St/Market St. Turn right at Arch Street and bear right onto JFK Blvd, lot will be on right.
