WHAT: The 8th annual Philadelphia Ride of Silence. This silent, police-escorted bicycle ride honors cyclists killed in crashes with vehicles and raises awareness of cyclists' right to share the road. Six cyclists have been killed in the Delaware Valley in the past 11 months.
WHEN: Wednesday, May 16th. 6:45 PM - 8:30 PM
WHERE: Riders gather at steps of Philadelphia Museum of Art. The 8-mile ride travels down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, past Independence Hall, and into West Philly via the Walnut Street Bridge. The ride concludes around 8:30 PM at Philadelphia Museum of Art steps.
Photo opportunities will be available at the PMA steps at 6:45 PM and along the route. Last year the ride attracted 250 riders in rainy conditions. Organizers expect 500 this year with good weather.
