Chairman’s Report
· Website
® Unable to track the domain “bikedelaware.org”; it is not available.
®
Until the new website is up, Bike
® Domain name “bikede.org” was agreed upon.
® No objections to using “hostmysite”
· Incorporation
® Miranda Brewer has agreed to help put paperwork together
® Sen. Dave Sokola has agreed to help find a lawyer willing to help us
® John suggests contacting Rick Barrows for help or leads. He will send contact information to Maria
· By-Laws
® Carol has put together a draft
® Determining membership: agreed that listserve membership is probably enough
® The organization will rely on donations; will not require dues
® Carol will post the By-laws on the yahoo group page.
· Logo
® Need help cleaning it up: Frank will ask Linda Young of WCBC
· Liaison openings
® Frank will divide the list of openings among the officers, who will personally contact potential liaisons.
· Getting the new “pork chop” policy in writing
® It would be included in the Design Guidance Memorandum
® Anthony Aglio is looking into the current stage of progress of the memorandum
® Some cases are already being fixed retroactively
· Refusal of MUTCD markings
® MUTCD guidelines have little legal weight
® If ‘sharrows’ are approved, this may leave an opening to put more weight on the MUTCD; but neither is certain, depending a lot on the new administration
· Advance notice of rehab/maintenance projects
® A preliminary list of projects has been generated; Anthony and Jen will keep an eye on it
® Due to the economy, there is a freeze on new bike facilities
® Current goal: maintain status quo.
· Enforcement of bike rack installation policy
® Enforcement is the duty of the county
®
We should pressure
® Heather Dunigan will look into the specifics of the policy
· If we find a comprehensive map of the bike routes throughout the state, we can track status and maintenance.
WILMAPCO Update
· The latest of the TIP will be released on Monday, Jan 12
® 7% decrease in funding for bike/ped projects
® Projects exclusively for bikes/peds
® are <1% of the total funding
® No new projects are included; the bulk are maintenance projects
National Bike
· There is no charge and no registration to lobby
·
