Chairman’s Report

Fatality in Laurel, 3rd documented bicycling this year. Other two fatalities were in Seaford and Elsmere,

WILMAPCO Update

Wilmington Bike Plan to go to WILMAPCO Council for approval. If approved the plan will be submitted to the city of Wilmington.

Incorporation Update–

Bank Account $500– Brian said it was OK to use the Urban Bike Project as the interim address. We need to submit a Bank Statement to the White Clay Bicycle Club

Delaware Bicycle Council - Maria gave the update for Amy. A Goal setting meeting Thursday the 6th, comprehensive list of their top goals Encouraging people to get on the DBC website and reporting road conditions.

Next Governor –
Come up with top ten wish list, set up a future meeting with him or legislative aide

Delaware Bike Summit – Annual Bike Summit April 24th to kick off Bike Summit – Pre Summit Survey through WILMAPCO.org scroll down to a link. 40 responses to date interest in infrastructure and Bicycle Friendly Communities – Target in advance what people are interested in to come away with a document (a blueprint).

Bike Summit Survey

The Bike Summit Steerting committee has put out an online survey to help determine what bicycling issues are of the most interest to cyclists.

Carol will request that to WCBC to publish the survey information in the next Tailwind.

Sussex Cyclists will put out the survey information at their annual dinner

WILMAPCO –2009 Environmental Justice Report out for review – areas of high percentage for high income and pedestrians.

National Bike Summit on March 12 – Transportation bill expires in 2009. Need Delaware residents to attend, Senator Carper is co-sponsor of complete streets legislation, Castle working for C&D Canal recreation plan. Priority list of bicycling asks are being put together by the America Bikes Coalition.

Delaware Bicycle Facility PowerPoint Presentation – Frank Warnock authored a presentation that is online on Google Docs – Brian thought that a shorter alternative version should be crafted as well.
