Philadelphia's Office of Transportation and Utilties is hosting a community meeting on Wednesday, August 12th at the Gersham Y at 6:30pm
Take Back the Drive
 
A  horrible crash in the MLK crosswalk that critically injured a father and young son on a bicycle is the latest example of the dangers of a beautiful park road that has been allowed to become a throughway. It is time to make MLK Drive safe for park users. 
 
You are welcome to join us and please send Mayor Nutter a letter asking him to make MLK Drive safe for park users. Over 600 letters have been sent so far!

I hope you are enjoying your summer so far. It's been a busy one at the Bicycle Coalition and promises to get even busier with TD Bank Bike Philly approaching (have you registered yet?).

If you live in Society Hill or know a bicyclist who does, there is a meeting next week I hope you can make it to: the City is hosting a public meeting to discuss the pilot bike lanes on Spruce and Pine Streets. They need to see neighborhood faces speaking in support of the idea!

Philadelphia's First Lady Lisa Nutter is the new Honorary Chair for TD Bank Bike Philly. Ms. Nutter is an avid cyclist and a member of Sturdy Girl Cycling.

The Bicycle Coalition and the Complete the Schuylkill River Trail Coalition are hosting a public meeting to discuss plans for finishing the trail from Delaware to Montgomery County and safety concerns on the current trail around Norristown.

Support River to River Bike Lanes in Center City
The City's Spruce/Pine bike lane proposal was met with tremendous enthusiasm when rolled out last month. Over 40 people wrote personal emails to Councilman Frank DiCicco and Deputy Mayor Rina Cutler voicing their support and over 260 thank you letters were sent to Mayor Nutter.
